Local Dealer Donates over $3600 in Cash and Sports Equipment to Peachtree Ridge Youth Athletic Association and North Gwinnett Baseball-Softball Association
Duluth (October xx, 2007) – Rick Hendrick Chevrolet is one of 50 Chevrolet dealers from the Metro-Atlanta area that partnered with local youth baseball parks/leagues through the Chevy Youth Baseball Program and helped raise close to $150,000 in total donations from the dealership and private parties. The program consisted of several components including sports equipment and vehicle donations, as well as a partnership with the Atlanta Braves during the 2007 baseball season that presented unique game experiences for the youth players.
Now in its second year, Chevy Youth Baseball is an initiative that establishes a positive connection between local dealers and the communities in which they serve. Rick Hendrick Chevrolet was partnered with Peachtree Ridge Youth Athletic Association as well as North Gwinnett Baseball-Softball Association because of the two league’s proximity to the dealership. Over the course of the season, Rick Hendrick Chevrolet donated team equipment kits, which included bat bags, scorebooks and t-shirts and helped donate a Chevy Tahoe SUV, which was raffled off by participating teams, including Peachtree Ridge Youth Athletic Association and North Gwinnett Baseball-Softball Association, who combined collected $600 in raffle ticket sales/donations.
“We are excited to make such a substantial donation to both Peachtree Ridge Youth Athletic Association and North Gwinnett Baseball-Softball Association and enjoyed partnering with them this season,” said Pete Kelly, Chevy Youth Baseball contact, Gwinnett Place Chevrolet. “Chevy Youth Baseball is just one example of how committed our dealership is to supporting the youth and families in the Duluth community.”
Another exciting component of Chevy Youth Baseball was the Home Run Derby, a program conducted in partnership with the Atlanta Braves. For each home run hit by the Atlanta Braves at selected home games, a $250 donation was made to Peachtree Ridge Youth Athletic Association and North Gwinnett Baseball-Softball Association by Rick Hendrick Chevrolet.

As an added bonus, the donation was doubled if the Braves won the game. At the end of the season, the Home Run Derby total for Peachtree Ridge Youth Athletic Association and North Gwinnett Baseball-Softball Association was $1500.
During the Braves’ season, Gwinnett Place Chevrolet also provided tickets to home games for Peachtree Ridge Youth Athletic Association and North Gwinnett Baseball-Softball Association, where selected youth had the opportunity to participate in unique game day experiences with the Braves Tomahawk Team and the Heavy Hitters Drum Line, as well as act as Honorary Bat Boys for the Braves players. Youth players from Peachtree Ridge Youth Athletic Association and North Gwinnett Baseball-Softball Association were also part of private baseball clinics at Turner Field where they received instruction from pro players.
